Ann Shaper Pollack

BIO

My creations, whether sculptural or functional, display a variety of styles from free-form to tightly-controlled. I strive for timelessness, originality, and beauty by casting, forging, sculpting and constructing diverse media. Although broadly trained in all forms of the fine arts, my focus is as a sculptor, medallist and jewelry designer.

I was awarded a degree in Art History from Long Island University, and have attended the School of the Arts at the University of Cincinnati, as well as the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

I have participated in numerous juried group exhibitions with the American Medallic Sculpture Association at museums, galleries and universities throughout the USA and Europe, including the AMSA 30th Anniversary Exhibition held at the Bellevue Arts Museum, Washington in 2012 and Brookgreen Gardens SC exhibition in 2013. My medals have been displayed at the Federation International de la Medaille d'Art (FIDEM) exhibitions held in London, Budapest, Neuchetel, Den Hague, Weimar, Paris, Seixal, Colorado Springs, Tempere, Glasgow, and scheduled for display in Sofia, Bulgaria.

I am a member of diverse societies, such as the British Art Medal Society, FIDEM, Medallic Society of Canada, American Numismatic Association, American Numismatic Society, and the National Sculpture Society (Colleague Membership). I have been an active member of the American Medallic Sculpture Association (AMSA) for which I served as president from 1997-1999.

My Medallic Art is represented in many private collections and museums, including the National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Numismatic Association, the American Numismatic Society, The British Museum and the Municipal Museum of Wroclaw, Poland. My portrait medal of Albert Schweitzer was selected for the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Commemorative at Harvard University and is displayed at the Harvard School of Public Health.
