Bio

I’m Deborah Samia, a California native sculptor in the Bay Area, and I received my artistic training in BFA from the Academy of Art University (AAU) in 1998. After that, I aggregated various jobs sculpting public monuments, sculpting miniature figurines and ornaments, creating high-end Halloween masks, and assisting other acclaimed Bay Area artists, such as Bruce Wolfe, Mario Chiodo, Lawrence Nobel and others.
Over 14 years, I have been teaching Figure Modeling, Portrait, and Ecorché at AAU and Pontifex University, and creating artwork as the lead artist at Chiodo Art Development. More importantly, I was honored to sculpt a bronze tribute to the late Mayor Ed Lee for the Warriors Chase Center in SF. I have recently added the skill of 3D Modeling in Zbrush which I find speeds up my process, but I’m still chasing the elusive ability to make something digital- look like clay. I am also new to the Medallic Community, even though I have been sculpting large-scale reliefs for most of my career.
